Someone Wrote A Poem

So, a friend of my friend Marissa, apparently inspired by my long, heartfelt entry about what happened to my relationship, has taken it upon herself to write a poem about it. This is a first for me (Someone not me writing a poem about me?) and as such I told her I'd post it below. So, here it is:

We have all heard a fatal love story with hellish twists and turns that shocks everyone like an electric shock of clothes from the dryer.
You knowingly tough it but never expect what is about to happen.
Love, the most wonderful thing in the world to all who have experienced it.
And yet it shatters and destroys your heart and yourself when you loose it.
How can we love and hate the same person or the person we once knew.
Friends and family hold your hand and get you through the rough spots of the emptiness that comes.
The emptiness lasts for what it seems to be an eternity, then all at once like a burst of light coming from the sun we are filled with warmth again.
And yet a thought brings all of the memories flashing back to us like a flash of lightening and we feel like the world will come crashing down around us once more.
Haunting us like a nightmare sending us back and forward like a car crashing into a wall that will never go.
And yet one day it will for love will come again and this time my heart will be given to one who will not shatter it.
But that first love will come again like the seasons around us bringing the warmth and the bitter cold, or an old wound that acts up now and again.
Love how we would long to shut down all around us and yet we need love.
Love is the light and darkness of the world but when we have it glows like the twinkling stars above.
Oh love.
